about

This track, from our forthcoming album A Forest Grew to be released on bandcamp in July 2020, is from our soundtrack to the film Nosferatu, first created live at LSO St. Luke's, London in 2017. This masterpiece of German Expressionism feels particularly relevant now as it is steeped in plague metaphors and references, having been filmed in the devastating wake of the Spanish flu pandemic. Count Orlok's Ship is perhaps the track most heavily influenced by the early scores of Ennio Morricone, whose style and atmosphere have inspired the Cabinet's live scores over the last decade. It most recently featured in the Paddle Out (Heart & Soul, World Service) under a powerful description of big-wave riding by Hawaiian legend Clyde Aikau. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3ct0w56
